As per the direction of the EDD site, I was told to fax my application in since I live in TX and work for a CA company. I heard nothing for 60 days, then, after calling a lot. I finally spoke to a person who told me to verify my ID and to call a number. I did that, and the person said, "Alright," closed my application, and redirected me back to the call center to reapply.
I am lost. Im going to apply again I guess. Why couldn't they mail me and tell me to verify my ID? How could they just close my application? Has anyone had a similar experience with any suggestions?
Background: Full-time job with taxes taken for 7 years. Laid off due to budget issues at the start of COVID. I initially applied in TX and waited 10 months of back and forth. I contacted my state rep who explained I applied in the wrong state and to go to CA. Faxed my app to CA and nothing. No calls, no contact. I paid one of those pricey apps to make the call for me.
The ID line is very easy to get through (usually a 1 minute wait). The claims department is a nightmare. Call ID department (also called integrity department) first and see whether or not you are under ID verification. If this is true then move forward with calling this number and asking them to give you the button to upload so you can upload your docs and get it processed. They may also be able to tell you if it's NOT ID related. 8663628854 -- press buttons 1 and 3 after it rings.
If it is NOT related to ID, then you unfortunately have to call the main line 800-300-5616
