My benefit year ended in 2019, and my last extension ended in Dec 2020. EDD first said they would auto-extend PEUX by March 6. When that never happened I called them and they said I had to open a new claim, They helped me to do that, and after a few days passed I was able to back certify.
Today I received a letter with a new EDD account number, and register online for an account. to certify.
EDD previously said on the phone everything would remain the same, as in my original account. My weeks I just certified for the other day are still listed as pending., as I am waiting for payment.
I am not sure what to do, I am hesitant to open a new account as the letter states, as then I will have two accounts. It is so hard to reach them by phone. Does anyone have any info on this?
I'm in the same situation. My year of claims ended 3/31, but there were instructions that the extension would be done automatically? I'm trying to verify, but cannot get thru to EDD by phone. My benefits were certified and showing pending, but have not received payment.
I was told today that the EDD phone line is only available from 8-Noon (?)
Thanks for any insights!

Yes ,and after 45 seconds hit the numbers 1341. Good luck!
I had to keep calling them until I finally got through(early in the morning is best) and they released the funds.
They straightend it out, my number is still the same. During all their site updates some things went wacky, but everything is now resolved. Same account number and past benefits were paid as well as being able to certify for new weeks.
Yes it’s all resolved now, thanks!
That is strange? Maybe that's just a form letter for someone who hasn't an UI online account. And I'm thinking if you try and register a new online account the system probably won't allow it because as soon as you put in your email address it should say "this email address is already registered" or something like that. Have you gone to your UI account and see if new certify weeks have become available?
You shouldn't have had a new EDD number... you are right that it is odd. Were you able to get in touch with an EDD agent?
