Edd.gov was letting me certify on my old claim for 3 weeks online, even though I had reached my year and was supposed to refile. It took three weeks to realize all my payments were “pending“ and weren’t being processed because I had to refile.
I finally realized the payments were “pending” because I hadn't submitted a new claim. So after 3 weeks of certifying on the old claim (never paid but still got the emails to certify), I filed for a new claim & got physical mail with a new card and new certifying papers.
Questions: My weekly payment went down from $450 to $347, though I've been unemployed the same as in 2020 (my first claim). Can I contest this?
2.) Will I ever get back the 3 weeks that I certified on the old claim if I start doing the new claim? Should I try calling?
3.) Should I start mailing in the claim paper work instead of using UI ONLINE? UI online only has the old claim info and now it has 5 weeks “pending”.
4.) Has anyone who filed a new claim seen it update on the website, I’ve only received correspondence by mail?
1. If your new WBA is lower by $25 or more you can qualify for DNCP (Deferred new claim program) where they will put you on your older claim WBA. They say this on their website, but implementation has not happened for many people
2. Yes there should be no gap in benefits
3. If you send the paper form it will be seen as "duplicate" on your claim status and then say "pending" so it makes no difference
4. They found errors and the ability to file for a new claim should have been resolved April 16. Log in and see if you are able to
