Additional $600 ending (FPUC)

Unemployment Guru

Updated: Feb 9, 2021

The additional $600 will be ending soon and people are wondering how it'll all work out for them.

If your next certification is 7/26:

7/12 - 7/18 will include the additional $600 (assuming week qualifies as eligible)

7/19 - 7/25 will include the additional $600 (assuming week qualifies as eligible)

Your next certification on 8/9 will NOT include the 600

If your certification lands on 8/2:

7/19 - 7/25 will include the additional $600 (assuming week qualifies as eligible)

7/26 - 8/1 you can qualify for your weekly benefit amount that is shown on your main page, but it will NOT include the additional 600

The House as passed the HEROES Act. The Senate still has to vote on it. As of now, extending the additional 600 is still up in the air.

Additional information about the $600 from CARES:

Also known as FPUC - Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation

  • The additional $600 will start paying out on week ending on 4/4/20 and will stop at the end of July.

  • It will not be retroactive prior to the week ending on 4/4/20 since the CARES Act was only signed on March 27, 2020. April 4, 2020 is the first Saturday after a full week has passed since it was signed.

  • If you already had an unemployment claim open, the additional 600 will be added to your account automatically

  • The 600 does not be taken from your claim balance. After you certify the additional $600 will show up on your claim history

How do I qualify for the additional $600?

  • All valid claims that show eligibility (including regular UI claims even those who had active claims prior to the pandemic, PEUC, and PUA) will qualify for the additional $600 from CARES from week ending 4/4/20 up until the week ending 7/25/20

Will the 600 deduct from my award on my main page?

  • No it will not. Your award amount only reflects your weekly benefit amount (WBA). The 600 will be added after you certify. If you see your claim history you will see that 600 was added in addition to the weekly benefit amount.

PUA

  • If you applied for the PUA, the additional 600 will also apply to your claim from week ending in 4/4/20 up until the end of July.

Extensions / PEUC

Penalty Weeks

  • Eligible claimants will be paid retroactively for their past weeks of unemployment and will receive the extra $600 payments for each week they were unemployed beginning March 29, 2020 through July 25, 2020. See PUA FAQ's here.
